So all I have to look forward to is a banana

Started vaguely on time, although it was fairly slow progress until lunch, then I kind of accelerated afterwards and got about two days work done in an afternoon. You really do need to be in the mood with this job. So today was finishing off the audio lib. Added defaults to initialisation, added all the new codecs to the sound bank tool and created a new tool for doing audio conversion plus a request from Al. So that’s it, I can’t think of any more to add to it, just the documentation (dull bit) to do. We’ve had the play through comments come through on the mobile game, but we can’t work on that at the moment for various reasons.

Went to gym, did combat. Came back and worked on a rather interesting network problem. We have a console site that can only be accessed from a certain ip range, problem is everyone has dynamic ip’s. So I’m trying to work out how to get main pc to route packets via the vpn. It’s slow going, but as I say quite interesting.

So had my salad, no cheese, drank tea, no cheese, no wine, no cheese. Will be taking pills tonight to cleanse my colon. So the only other thing I have now is a banana and more tea. No cheese.

I have a self cleaning oven, although I’ve never caught it at it

So where were we, as yes Saturday. Got up later than I’d planned, considering I wanted to do a load of house re-checks today for Holly Hedge. Walked the dog, we got heavily hailed on, she really wasn’t keen on that, so we came back. I did the shopping which seemed to take forever as I had two bloody lists. Unpacked shopping, had lunch.

Then decided I really must get on with these home checks, so rang a couple and one was in, so went and did that. Lovely lady, lovely cat. Then I drove into town so I could go into Apple Store to be told that we don’t actually have any Apple products here so please order them online. Went into Robert Dyas and bought some new phones as I was bored of my outgoing line phone cutting out after five minutes. Went into House Of Fraser, looked at coffee machines, they didn’t have what I wanted. Well they had what I would have liked, but there was no way I was going to pay that much for it. Bought some new noodle bowls.

Came back home, walked the dog round the block as she was looking edgy. Had shower, went and picked up Andy & Lisa, as well as Jamie. Came back, we had Champagne (no Lulu). I cooked. Apparently it was fabulous. It was Chicken, Shiitake Mushrooms, Asparagus and Ginger. I did it with Noodles and rice (for an awkward one, it’s like vegetarians, if you don’t want meat then go outside and eat my lawn.) We drink wine, a lot of wine. Considering the talk usually centers around Tesco’s I was quite surprised that this evening oddly it didn’t. We somehow managed to talk about children’s eating habit’s and how Jamie can actually find his way around London on his own without getting lost, mugged or bum raped.

So this morning we got up late. Well before we got up we did perform the sex act. Well I performed it, it’s not exactly like a Shakespearean play, I doubt he was in to bum sex, Jamie just really didn’t seem in the mood. About half hour later though he had perked up somewhat (both mentally and metaphorically) so I performed my mad maracas routine on his love pump while he laid back, closed his eyes and thought about Terry Wogan in Speedos. We then got up. I had boiled eggs.

As it was Sunday it was Jamie’s turn to walk the dog. As it was a nice day I decided to be the tour guide, otherwise the walk would have been about three minutes long. I dressed in cross country trainers and old trakkie bottoms. Jamie dressed like he was off to a gay bar. We went on one of my longer routes, oddly Jamie didn’t moan at all. I then came back and mowed the lawn, followed by watching a guy jump out of a wheelie bin at the edge of space. “Felix Baumgartner”, if I had balls your size, I’d have serious walking issues.

So there we are, back up to date, the rest of the evening will consist of wine, bath, more wine, curry (with wine), followed by falling asleep in front of the Korean GP.

Ordered my iPhone5, well it’s the companies iPhone5, but they won’t get it.

I really have to give up cheese

Started late, but hey, you have to be in the mood for these things. So finished off coding the doppler shift sample. Then moved on to sound cones, which is basically directional audio. After a couple of silly bugs that was all working.

Then walked the dog. Sun was shining as we left, then at the half way point it absolutely pissed down. Came back, then worked on adding sound effects support to the music mixer. That took me up to gym time. Did pump, then about 30 mins of running.

Came back from that and sorted out some buffer alignment problems. Did a film review of some torture porn I watched the other night “Invitation Only”

Now it’s time for wine and bath.

Really need to stop eating cheese, bought a block last night and ended up eating over half of it. All it does is make me fat. But it does have the advantage of giving me very solid bowel movements, talking of which I’m pooing about five times a day at the moment. Obviously not enough salad in my diet.

Busy day tomorrow I expect. Need to catch up with house checks then Lisa and Andy coming over for dinner. No doubt they (including Jamie), will talk about Tesco’s, a lot.

Decided on the coffee machine I like (£600) and the one I’ll probably get (£200).

The joys of doppler shift

Couldn’t sleep again last night, didn’t hit the wine, just stayed on MSN talking to Al, which kept Jamie awake so was a plus. The array allocing stuff I did yesterday seems to work, so that’s hopefully the end of the iPhone5 problems. Still don’t have one, but now ordered one from the Apple store on 2-3 weeks delivery.

So cleaner arrived on time, got mugged by the dog again then cleaned. Needs a bit of refinement, but she’ll get there. So today working on Octree, which was a success pretty much off the bat. Then tidied up a few bugs that had crept in. Then it was on to doppler shift. For those that don’t know that’s how the frequency changes depending on velocity and direction. That’s the weird police siren thing you get when the car goes past you. Anyway, coded it all up. Didn’t work. Tried it on iOS, didn’t work, played around with tons of stuff and went through lots of docs. Got bored and checked it in. Then worked out I was using a stereo source…doppler and positioning only works on mono sources, change the source, all worked fine. So tomorrow it’s doing a decent sample for that and then sound cones, which are even more strange.

Walked the dog. Went to the gym, ran for 63 minutes today. Watched a very interesting document about a plane crash, well a plane they actually crashed and monitored. Now it’s on to torture porn, choice of two tonight.

Do you have the iPhone5 in stock, yes. Can I buy one, no. Bastards.

Got a mail from Al about the iPhone5 crash, looks like it’s an issue with alignment on the new arm processor. So spent the bulk of the day writing array allocators to fix the problem.

Tried to get hold of an iPhone5. O2 stock checker said they had some in Clifton. So off I trotted. “Do you have the iPhone5 32GB in stock?”, “Yes, sir”, “Here’s £619”. “Oh, sorry I can’t sell one to you”, “What?”, “I can only sell it on a 24 month contract.”. Tossers. Then I came back and found they had them in stock just up the road so could have saved petrol for the same argument.

So a bit of a ‘null’ day really. Walked the dog. Went to gym, ran for 62 minutes. Ate salad. Got a couple of new films in. Cleaner should be back tomorrow.

Another one of my reviews is up on trip advisor “La Piazza Aztec West”

So things could possibly be looking up work wise

Ok, can’t say anything at the moment, but there may very well be the chance of some job security coming up, which in this industry is pretty unheard of. More on that next week perhaps.

Meanwhile I’ve been doing more tree stuff, moved on to the octree today, although haven’t fully tested it yet.

Couldn’t sleep last night, ended up getting up, drinking a bottle of wine and talking to Al till 5AM. Problem with that is I woke up feeling like utter shit.

New cleaner started, broke a glass, but it’s early days.

Went to gym, even though I said I wouldn’t on a Tuesday, but just felt like it and it was only for half an hour.

Not a great deal else done, walked the dog, it rained again. Ate salad. Want to look at a new bathroom perhaps if work deal comes off. That will be nice rather than spending more money on another bloody holiday.

My left eye really hurts for no apparent reason, like I’ve been punched in it. Probably a tumor, need to look up funeral plans.

Today I was a lumberjack and flattened a (quad) tree

My review of the hotel we stayed at in London is now available “Berjaya Eden Park Hotel” As you can see it got a glowing review, I’d prefer to spend an evening with my mother and then catch syphilis (not that she has that).

So worked on the mobile audio lib again, added in lock free load queue which was something I worked out while on a treadmill last week. Then started looking at cutting the size of the quad tree down. Originally 36 bytes, 8 bytes each for min / max extent, 16 bytes for 4 child pointers and the content pointer. So started off converting that to a flat array, after large amounts of scribbling, came up with the obvious formula of (n*4)+1 will give you the offset of any node in a flat array. The children are then all linear, so the root node (0) will have 4 children 1, 2, 3, 4, using that formula you can then visit any of the children so node 1 which is the child of node 0 has 4 children, they will be 5, 6, 7, 8. Likewise node 2 which is also the child of node 0 will have 4 children 9, 10, 11, 12. To find it’s children apply the same formula, so 9 will be 37, 38, 39, 40. 10 will be 41, 42, 43, 44 etc. You know when you have run out of children as the offset will be greater than or equal to the number of nodes. So the only thing you have to store is the 4 byte pointer to the contents, you can calculate the min / max extent as you do the traversal. So that was actually good fun and well worth doing. Needs more testing and I need to apply the same thing to an octree.

Walked the dog (we are speaking again now), it was raining so wasn’t the longest walk ever done (she didn’t seem to mind). Went to the gym and did combat. Now have the Japanese GP still to watch. May well do that and have a bit of an early one and catch a film on the iPad. Oh the wine tasting is finally booked for November 17th.

I got in a piss with the dog and refused to speak to her

Ok, so it was 5AM, Sasha wanted to go for a pee, so I dragged myself out of bed and let her out. She peed and took a dump, then just stood around in the freezing cold. I kept calling her in for 10 minutes and she just ignored me. I eventually shut the door and went back to bed, half hour later I came back down and she was waiting by the door like nothing had happened.

I then ignored her all morning, didn’t give her her breakfast (Jamie did that later) and didn’t take her for a walk. I ended up trimming all the front garden trees and then shoveling a bit more of the earth into the green bin from the back garden. Also tidied up some of the tree debris in the back garden. Still a couple of loads to go for sure plus all the autumn pruning. At least the front is pretty much finished now, needs a final mow before winter sets in I think then I’ll leave it until spring. It will need a good raking and a bit of reseeding then.

Had lunch and ignored the dog. More gardening. Cleaned up dog shit. Cleaned up the apples, not many now, there are still quite a lot attached to the tree though, that badly needs pruning.

Eventually sat down and wrote an appalling review of the hotel we stayed in in London, to add to the whole host of appalling reviews it already has. Did a quick review of a film I watched the other night “Red State” Then added a few more of the honeymoon photos. Still a few hundred to get through before I can do the photo book things.

By the afternoon I still wasn’t talking to the dog, although by this point she had brought me a card and Maltesers. Jamie has now taken the dog for a walk, I’ve decided that from now on he should walk the dog on Sunday’s anyway, as I walk her every other day of the week.

I may speak to her tomorrow if she doesn’t hang around outside in the middle of the night like a cheap tart.

Jamie isn’t fapping anymore, so looks like we may have to spend the evening with each other and eat at a sensible time. Not too sure about this new arrangement. I did have the Japanese GP to watch, but some mouthy bitch did read the result out on the radio first thing this morning, so that’s buggered it up a bit. Oh well, bath time. Hopefully less bitter tomorrow, although that’s pretty unlikely.

Robert hired a trainer, lost a substantial amount of weight, and went on to become Taylor Lautner.

Ok, so another ‘Ted’ quote but it was a funny film.

Got up very late, mainly as we went to sleep very late. Didn’t get home until about 2, then by the time I did my restaurant review and watched some telly (needed to drink wine) and finally pursuaded Jamie that as it was his birthday it was actually his duty to have sex (even if his sister was in the other room). At least we are married now, we have had sex at his mothers house right above her (she was in the room below, we weren’t doing ny weird hovering shit). Also there was that time with James…story for another day.

So anyway, got up late. Walked the dog to parkway with Megan (she walked by herself, no lead required). Got back, then we went into town, which was a bit pointless as everything was closed, except ‘Forbidden Planet’, so bought some more Sonic tat. Walked back to car then did the shopping. I’ve now done the accounts. That’s the excitement of the day.

I’m now going to have a bath and drink some wine. Followed by making a curry. Tomorrow I expect will mainly consist of gardening type activities providing it doesn’t piss down.

I must admit ‘Ted’ did make me chuckle

So started off with changing part of the audio lib to use the lock free ring buffer, that all worked fine. So then changed a header file that I forgot to do before. That was about all I had time for as I had the afternoon off. Sarah popped round and we took the old mattress to the skip.

I then took the dog out, which wasn’t specifically timed for when the in laws arrived, honest. Anyway they were painless and brought cake and sausage rolls, plus tomatoes so are forgiven all sins. They left Megan though.

Ended up installing desktop Ubuntu on another one of my SFF PC’s. Went to the gym and did pump. Came back, picked everyone up and went to La Piazza at Aztec West. It was ok, but I’m sure it’s been better in the past. Came back, sat on the toilet. Then we went out to the cinema and watched ‘Ted’, a film about a Teddy Bear that comes to life. It’s certainly not a kids film and has some killer gags in it. Now sat in bad typing this up with a nice glass of white.
