We’ve blocked your code as we think there may have been some fraudulent transactions

Yesterday started as normal, with me in bed. I did have to get up though to take the dogs out and then pop up to Staverton. Beautiful weather for once. Did another 1.3 hours, a few circuits, a high auto-rotation. Then some quick stops and some rather dramatic high speed ground manoeuvres, where I did indeed try to kill us. James actually swore, James never swears but apparently I did come very close to taking a pylon out. Took a full lot of head cam footage again which I’ve transferred to the Mac but haven’t had a chance to look at yet.

Popped in B&Q. Came back. We then sat down and started booking things for the trip. So hotels in Anaheim, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Boston, Washington DC and New York. Also booked tickets for a Vegas show. I lost count of how much I spent, mainly as I got through about two bottles of wine during the proceedings. I was due to cook, but couldn’t be assed so we ordered an Indian.

Woke up this morning to a phone call from a Scottish lady from Tesco bank, informing me that they thought they had detected fraudulent transactions. I said no it was perfectly normal to spend four hundred quid on helicopter lessons, about twenty in B&Q and then about a grand on hotels in the USA followed by a curry…in the same day. She upped my credit limit and unblocked the card.

As it was nice we did what all good gays do and went shopping. We actually did clothes shopping in Top Man. We never normally do this kind of thing together. I think Jamie was feeling fragile after I’d spent Friday nights bath chatting to an 18 year old called Jordan on Tinder. He worked in ‘PoundStretcher’. We also went in Halfords and picked up a new Sat-nav. I already have the USA maps on a memory card so shoved that in and all worked fine. I was rather cruel and tried to get it to route from my house to the hotel in Anaheim, it got to about 40% then crashed.

Sealed the floor in front of the washing machine, this is the bit Jamie soaked by overflowing the sink last week. I managed to dry most of it out with a heat gun. I’m still not happy with it. I may chop another 30mm off it and put an edging on. I’m getting very pissed off pulling the bloody washing machine in and out.

So tonight I have to cook last nights food. But bath first.

Don’t forget folks you can follow me on Twitter @mannmansion.

Also check out my new video “Prohibition and Prozac”

Lots of videos coming out in the next few weeks, just need to get round to editing them all.

Who the fuck is Thea?

After some digging I actually managed to find a link to last Sunday’s ‘Dan & Phil Show’ and indeed my video was shown from the beginning. It has a title splash for the song and then another one for ‘Video By: Thea’, who the fuck is Thea? It’s a video by me. Plus half way through there is a bit where it shows the boot screen from a DVD player, where the fuck that came from I don’t know.

Work wise I spent the day battling with a certain manufacturers SDK and failed. I gave up mid-afternoon and finished off editing a video instead. I’d already done plenty of hours this week.

Still haven’t spoken to anyone on the radio yet. I’ve listened to numerous people talking about a range of fun subjects, including, fog, traffic and resetting the bios password on a PC. Tomorrow they may discuss, mud, paint drying and bowel movements.

Captain James sent me a text, so flying tomorrow.

I spent more money on FCPX plug-ins. It’s my version of ‘QVC’, I’m turning into my mother. But I really need a smoke transition effect and professional hue colour grading.

Latest video is uploading now. Time for a bath and some wine me thinks. As I say, flying tomorrow.

Also installed new UPS. Looks nice, only just fits in the cabinet. Nut worked fine with it. Need to carry out some power off shutdown tests at some point.

No, don’t want to speak to someone who’s highlight of the day was changing a toner cartridge

Lots of things arrived. My new Sony 7506 headphones, which are fantastic. The transceiver that I only ordered yesterday arrived by midday. Took a while to get the damn thing programmed up with the local repeater but got there in the end. Logbook also arrived, so all set to go….

Except I left it on all day and just listened to people talk through the repeater. If anything could drive you to suicide then listening to these dull peoples lives would. Anyone who can bang on for almost twenty minutes about changing a photocopier toner cartridge I don’t think I could hold a conversation with. Maybe tomorrow.

I worked on fiber stuff. All successful. Then it was back to shaders.

Went to the gym and did Spin with Laverene. Came back and did some more playing around with music and then some video editing. Then sat down and tried to find old Ubuntu scripts to do with the old Belkin UPS. I need to revert all these before putting the new UPS in, as this one actually supports proper power off shutdown.

So G7IYM is licensed again

Don’t usually have too many good things to say about Ofcom, but I suppose it’s actually ‘Spectrum Licensing’ so some other off-shoot. But this morning to my surprise an envelope turned up which contained a newly issued amateur radio license. Considering all I supplied them with a couple of weeks ago was a filled in form with a few previous addresses on it. I couldn’t find any old validation documents or my original exam passes. Anyway they’ve granted me a full license, so I can tear up the airwaves at 400 watts. I won’t though, as I have no great interest in talking to very dull people about very dull subjects. I did however order a dual band UHF/VHF transceiver. This is just to do a bit of testing with so I can do my telephony exam for the PPL. I’ll see how I get on, but I expect the first few contacts I make I’ll want to murder in about ten minutes. There’s also the possibility I may bump into an old acquaintance of mine, who will save me talking as all he does is talk about himself.

I’m not even going to discuss work as it was shaders again. Took Dillon to daycare and picked him up.

Went to the gym and did Body Pump. Drank protein. Came back and did a bit more work, then a bit more video editing. My Mac was on a go-slow so gave up after a while and let it think about what ever it needed to think about. Hopefully tomorrow it will have got whatever it was out of the way.

It’s a good job there isn’t a kitchen light above Staverton

Today was all about shaders again. This is beginning to be a recurring theme. The only break I had was looking at an issue with fibers. Thankfully shader wise, this batch is pretty much finished. There is one crash in the platform compiler which I’ve had to refer back to the supplier.

My UPS arrived, I knew they said it would be securely packed, but I wasn’t expecting it to me strapped to a full-sized wooden pallet. It’s still strapped to it as I needed to order some socket converters. It isn’t going anywhere, mainly because it weighs a ton.

Went to the gym and abused the cross trainer for an hour. Came back and played around with the CX2. To cut and short flight even shorter I managed to fly it up into the kitchen light and take the bulb out, spraying glass everywhere. Wrecked the bodywork and broke the landing skids. Fifteen quid on eBay later and a new lightbulb it was time to eat salad. Still felt hungry to finished it off with macaroni cheese and toast. Avoided wine. Actually now in bed fairly early. Dillon at daycare tomorrow. I have another exciting day with shaders.

FaceBook settings, damn you

Spent ages tracing a shader compiler bug. That was the highlight of my morning. Walked Sasha. Then spent the entire afternoon editing shaders and fixing fun shader compiler errors. This week is going to be all about shaders. It’s going to be very very dull. At least it doesn’t require much brain power, it’s just iteration after iteration.

Went to the gym and did Combat. Admired my arms. Came back and did more bloody shaders. Didn’t get on to anything else, was hoping to do a bit more editing but wasn’t in the mood so sat down and caught up on some telly.

Last night when editing FaceBook permissions on a video I made it public by mistake. Mother saw it it and commented ‘Awesome!’, so she’s still alive and thinks she’s about 15.

My plasticine hasn’t turned up.

I’ve been on Radio 1, okay, well my video has

This morning was a bit weird. Started in one of those odd dream states. There was no way I could afford 95 grand. Okay, this is what happened, we decided that on our American trip we couldn’t survive without all our worldly goods. So we packed them into a container. We then got a haulage company to transport the whole lot to Tokyo. But on the day they were due to go I told Jamie that it really wasn’t worth bothering with and that he should cancel it. So he rang them up and the lady was quite upset because apparently the two guys taking the lorry had planned their route to pick up a load of booze on the way back. I then said he should ring the broker as well as they would need informing. I’d already paid out eight grand for the haulage. The broker then told me to cancel would be anywhere between a grand and ninty-five grand. There was no way I could afford that so refused to sign.

I hadn’t even eaton any cheese before that.

Got up and siliconed the flooring in the kitchen. We then took the dogs out to the field. Came back and popped up to the mall, I looked at headphones, still undecided.

Came back and put down a few lengths of beading, still a load more to do, but it’s a start.

Put on the Dan & Phil, radio one show. And oh yes, my video was the first on. Okay, they synced it to another track, but hey, that’s one more than Jamie has ever achieved.

I can die happy, but I’m going to eat first.

“Dillon was almost in key”, “It’s a shame you weren’t”

This morning started fairly early, but to be honest I was very tired, so I kept dozing off into some amazing R.E.M. sleep with some very vivid dreams. I eventually go up at about mid-day. Took Sasha out as Dillon wasn’t interested. Weighed her at the vets, she’s losing weight at a rate that I’d like to. So I’ve put them on a tin each for tea now.

Had lunch. Went to B&Q. Had a hell of a job finding upvc quadrant. Got everything in the end. Then drove towards town. Walked in, tested out a few sets of headphones. Walked back to the car again, picked it up and went to tool station. Got some more silicone sealant and a mitre saw. Drove home. Did want sex with Jamie but he wasn’t there. Did the accounts. Then made pan cakes. Every year I make the same mistake. I make myself about six, but they are so bloody filling I can only eat about two. ‘Barcelona’ came on the radio, Dillon and I were singing along to it. Ordered a new UPS, okay, it’s a reconditioned one, but still over two hundred quid. But as it’s a work thing it’s fully tax deductible. Tomorrow I get to do more DIY things.

Our scene may be set in ‘Sweet Verona’, but it’s still filmed in Dagenham

Shaders will be the death of me I’m sure. I’m so intimate with that damn compiler source it’s almost like were having an affair. The whole day was spent trying to get a set of shaders to compile with global params in one block. Works fine standalone but then goes tits when used as part of the build chain. Gave up just after ten at night, a fun one to get stuck into on Monday.

Spoke to Sarah, well attempted to, soon as I got through the Tesco van arrived, so unloaded shopping. Then had anther pop. She’s spoken to mother, who unsurprisingly was in something of denial. We’ve basically left the ball entirely i her court, we can give her help, or she can go rot. Her choice. Oddly she sent an email to her one and only friend in reply to something, she said nothing except for the subject of the email (which was about her uncle in a care home). So she knows big brother is watching (and relaying to big sister).

Went to Body Pump, then did a really good session with Laverne afterwards. I’m getting very strong up top. Didn’t do much else then other than have a bath and collapse in front of the TV.

“I want my socks back!”

Woke up feeling more worse for wear than I was planning. Joys of finishing off about four bottles of wine. They weren’t all full incidentally. Just a mixture. Checked email then twitter. Got a very off tweet, “I want my socks back! I have spent the last 30 years wondering where they went you bastard!” It was from an old friend of mine who I went to school with. Haven’t seen him in many years, hope all is well with you Andy. Just shows with all this social media you have no idea who’s watching your videos or reading your tweets. Or indeed reading your blog. I know for certain one person who isn’t. Apparently my sister has spoken to her today, I haven’t spoken to my sister yet though.

Work wise, today was all about shaders. I have an interesting issue that I have hundreds of global params spread all over shaders and I need them all in one block. After a hell of a lot of thinking and several false starts I finally worked out a way of doing it. It does mean altering every shader yet again though. Still, fin job for a Friday.

Went to Spin. Uneventful.

Came back and played with Traktor Pro. This is DJ mixing software. I have a USB controller, which I finally managed to configure correctly. Still going through the manual but it’s good fun to play about with. Did some more work.

Lots on at the moment. Lots to play with. Never a dull moment.

Torture porn night.
