I found I had no talent as a DJ, but enjoyed playing with the demo of Traktor

Had a fairly rough night again, which meant I was knackered again this morning. Cracked on with work, I spent all day looking at issues with grass. First there was stack corruption, then there were memory trashing issues, which turned out not to be memory trashing issues. It’s working better now but still has some issues with it, I have a feeling they are cross platform though, so will require a lot more digging.

Went to Combat. That was fun. Talked to my sister, she loved my video, so I’ve made it public, at least it will be some sort of talking point.

I was saying to Jamie that ‘Everything is awesome’ from the Lego movie sounded very similar to ‘5-6-7-8’ by ‘Steps’. So I downloaded a demo of Traktor, which is a program I played with years and years ago, it’s certainly advanced a long way. I got hold of the two tracks and banged them in. I then beat matched them and started banging around with the cross-fader. Sure enough they are very similar, you can replace the rap in one with the other and it all matches. However my DJ ability is rather limited, but it gave me an hour of unusual fun.

QVC’s best customer

Had a fairly restless night, even after having sex at 3AM. Still, woke up early. Finally managed to persuade Jamie to get me breakfast. I had a text from Captain James and we were set for a 4:15PM take off. So I decided to get up get on with things. It took me a few hours to get the cloakroom door strip done and the door refitted. So by the time I’d tidied up and had a couple of boiled eggs it was time to set off.

Arrived bang on time. Airport was very busy, as this has been the only nice day in weeks. Wind was virtually zero. I attached my ISAW head cam, to my er, head. We refuelled Charlie Delta and I went through the pre-flight and started her up. The takeoff into hover was awful. Captain James took over and got us to x-ray. I then took over and got into the climb. We flew out over Tewksbury and looked at all the flooding. It was very picturesque, but probably not so much joy for the people actually down there. Did a few climbs and descents to get me back into the groove as it had been about five weeks. The it was back on to circuits, think I did four or five, until it got dark. They got better as I went on, but I was certainly rusty. Was good to be up again, will try and got up again soon, depending on the weather. Drove back and imported the footage, it’s quite impressive but I could of done with a little bit more light towards the end. I posted a few odd bits on Facebook, but want to get some more daytime footage and do a proper edit.

Finally bottled the Pinot. I now have seventy-two bottles of home brew in the spare room which I’m unable to drink for another twelve days. Had a bath. Made food, which was once again a chicken curry. So same again next week.

So yesterday I made a new video. It’s about QVC, actually it’s more about my mothers addiction to QVC and her ability to spend just under five grand in about sixteen months on complete tat. The video is a private listing at the moment, so won’t appear on a YouTube search. However you can view it here. Let me know what you think. Yes, it’s a bit personal, but I imagine quite a lot of people may have experienced something similar, plus it’s quite funny in places.

So will I look like a twat with a camera strapped to my head

Rudely awaken this morning by the postman. Delivered my Rode videomic pro. Went back to bed. Rudely awaken by the postman. Delivered my ISAW action camera. Went back to bed. Made breakfast. Read the paper. Then had a little play with the camera. It seems very good and came with loads of accessory’s. I tried the head-strap out. You do look a bit of a twat but I think it will be great to give it a blast next time I’m in the helicopter.

Popped to Tesco’s. Picked up $3,000. That should be enough for everything. Came back and walked the dogs. Had lunch. Tried to do a home check for a couple of cats but they weren’t in (the people that is). So I decided to set the camera up with the new microphone and do a new video. Took about an hour of preparation going through old emails, looking for one’s from QVC. Then it took about an hour to film. Finally I retired to the office and started editing. Three hours later I popped over to my sisters to check on my nephew who was having the worlds most boring party. Came back, had a shower and then made food. We watched a bit of telly and both decided we had better things to get on with. So we went our separate ways and I continued editing. After I finished I sat down and did the accounts. Managed to wrack up a four grand credit card bill this month. Booked the car park. Video is still uploading.

Hopefully flying tomorrow. Plus painting skirting boards. Oh the joy.

Halfway and happy Valentine’s

So day 14. Didn’t get to bed until 4AM due to uploading milestone builds. Actually started earlier than I was planning due to testing said builds.

Worked all the way through until six. Afternoon was a bit wasted due to a bug I was trying to trace and didn’t realise until after I’d shut down that the bug was actually running out of stack space rather than the sort of corruption I was looking for. Still, an easy one to start Monday with.

Had a shower. Then drove into town with Jamie. He took me see the ‘Lego’ film. Yes, Jamie actually took me to see a film about bricks. It was funny in places, but I was already tired, that connected with a dark room and I was soon nodding off.

We then went and ate at Zizzi, which was actually very good. I had pizza, it was Friday. Now my no alcohol thing did get slightly broken as we had a glass of bubbly as part of the meal. I was good otherwise though and had a bottle of water with it.

Came back and went ‘woof’ a lot. Jamie moaned that I never get him anything personal for Valentine’s day, I offered to fist him, but he wasn’t interested.

The underlay arrived for the wood flooring.

Okay, so the flooring has arrived, the underlay however is still missing

So started on time to a whole host of fun and bugs. Spent the entire day either trying to get a video player to play without corruption or fixing lens flare. Oh the joys. Need to get a build done today ready for testing and upload tomorrow, so all very busy.

There was a sale on, on FCPX plug-ins, so now got a few more. Expect them to be abused on to a video some time soon. I’m trying to order a ISaw A2 action cam, but the web site is shit and keeps falling over. Okay, so it’s not a go-pro, but it’s a third of the price and will probably do the job just fine.

Went to the gym and did Spin. No gym tomorrow as I’m being dragged out for Valentine’s day. We are going to the cinema and having a meal, I’m sure it will be awful.

Need to make a big list of things I need to pay for, like car parking, car hire, hotels and stuff. More money.

And then I shouted at the monitor a bit more

Started at 6:30AM, took Dillon to daycare, they are moving and their prices going up, this could become an issue. Sasha moaned. Went back to bed.

Got up and powered up, me, Sasha, the coffee machine. Still working on a load of graphical bugs, also doing some multi-player testing. Loads of work to do. Picked up Dillon mid-afternoon. Went to the gym an did Pump. Drunk my protein shake. Ate far too much chocolate, the good thing is I’ve almost run out of it now. Topped it up with salad. Didn’t finish work until late, lots of shouting at code.

Ordered a Rode videomic pro. Hopefully video audio will be a lot better then. Talking of video, I think I have an idea for a new one….

So apparently it’s arriving Thursday

Woke up just in time to get Dillon in the car and take him to the vets. Just for boosters, all in good shape. There was a miserable women there who arrived with three cats in shopping bags. They asked her if that was all of them, she said no and that she had eighteen more. She smelt of wee.

Got back and started work. Spent the entire day fixing one bug, and to be honest by the end of it I’m still not a hundred percent it’s fixed.

I rang the B&Q customer services number, listened to some death metal music on hold for ten minutes then finally got through to a women with an IQ lower than the dogs, she told me my order would arrive Thursday, I said thanks for telling me, she didn’t get the irony.

Had a home check to do for a puppy. So went to the gym and then did the home check. Ate salad and then about half a box of celebrations. I may not be drinking, but what I’m lacking in alcohol I seem to be making up for in chocolate. Watched some telly. Think I’ll attempt an early night. Dillon at day care tomorrow.

Where’s my fucking flooring?

Now been a week since I ordered the flooring for the kitchen, haven’t heard a bloody thing.

Got up, started work. Fairly dull today, looking to fix a couple of bugs. Did one.

Walked the dogs, Dillon walked well on his nose lead. He’s at the vets tomorrow for his boosters.

Went to Combat, my stomach still hurts a bit. Came back, did some more work. Then tried to catch up on a lot of television.

Last night we actually sat down with the whiteboard and planned our route. It’s a long way, a really long way, about 4,800 miles. It’ll be fun. I’m sure. I’ll be sharing the driving with myself. Still, eighty days to go, so enough time for lots of re-planning. I may cut out Kansas, I’m sure a lot of Americans may feel the same way.

I now own a whiteboard

So this morning started off very lazily. Don’t know how many times I went back to sleep. Took two cups of coffee to boot the system. Decided we really must sort this trip out, so thought the best way to do it would be to scribble it all on a whiteboard. Problem is we didn’t have one. So rather than get into DIY which I wasn’t in the mood for we went into Staples and got one. Came back and picked up the dog shit. Then had boiled eggs.

Finally decided it was time to do some DIY, so I’ve painted the door frames and the skirting in the hall. This is really temporary until I do the hall properly. It really all needs stripping back and redoing. But this will make it tidy so I can attach the beading. I took the door off the cloakroom and planed it down a bit. Will need to do the door strip and fit the door back. I’ll do the kitchen skirting next week. God knows where the flooring is.

Installed latest version of FCPX on MacBook. Also put Photoshop CS6 on here as well as the final cut plug-ins. Had a bath. Made a curry (it was in a jar, not as nice as mine). Now sat down and the whiteboard still hasn’t been used.\

Oh, I uploaded part 2 of ‘The Boyfriend Tag’ video, this is the one where Jamie asks me ten questions. Give it a view. ‘The Boyfriend Tag – Part 2’.

Neknomination

So started this morning like a normal Saturday. In bed. Read the paper, cruised porn. I saw something I found very disturbing last night on Facebook. It was posted by a 15yo kid (who is a friend of my nephews which is why it was on my feed). He was doing a ‘neknomination’, this is where you dare one of your mates to do something silly with alcohol. Alcohol is not something to be messed with, especially if you are fifteen. He poured a can of larger into a pint glass, added vodka, milk and then a raw egg and drank it. I’m sure he then spent the rest of the evening yakking up in the bathroom.

I walked the dogs, had lunch and then decided to shoot a new video. So I set it up in the kitchen and filmed it all. I then popped out, got some crickets and walked up and down Gloucester Road in the rain. Haven’t been there for a long time, have no desire to go there again for a long time.

Came back and edited the video. Did the accounts. Drew a jazzing penis on Jamie’s side while he was asleep. (Yes I have a photo). I’m now going to have a shower and make the food.

I’m still off the booze, not that it’s making any difference to my weight. My stomach hurts, but I think that’s more to do with Laverne and her personal training than anything else.

Here’s the video ‘No-Neknomination’ AKA ‘How to enjoy tea’.
