Thinking about holidays, thought about them, move on

Still finishing off some browser type work. Thankfully that’s now near enough come to an end. One tiny little bit to do on that tomorrow then hopefully on to something else.

Walked the dog. Wet route, as it was still as slippery as hell. Tesco shopping arrived, woot. Still monitoring boiler temperatures, got the slow set to about 60 degrees now, I’m reading the return from the bottom of the tank and the flow from the top of the pump, I appear to be getting a 20 degree drop there which is good. The boiler seems to be modulating correctly, but I do need to set the TRV’s using a probe and have a vague go at balancing it again. Although with the TRV’s shutting down correctly this isn’t so important.

Looked at a few holiday destinations. Thinking of some sort of fly-drive towards Ohio. I’m leaving it up to Jamie to book, I’ve given him dates and a budget. Which means we’ll end up in a caravan in Wales. If he had any intelligence he would book Tokyo where he wants to go. We’ll be going to Wales then.

Went to the gym and did Combat. I actually broke into a sweat tonight so must have put some effort in. Weather could be a factor tomorrow regards my run, if it’s still icy. Will have to see.

Apparently the secret to getting some action is wearing nice pants

Last night was a bit strange, actually no, last night wasn’t, I made a curry and then we went to bed. Friday night. Now Friday’s are never normally known for their sexual exploits but for some reason I was wearing a particular pair of yellow briefs. It had got to the point where Jamie had failed to put the washing away, so my usual collection of comfy but sagging pants was still on the airer. So I was wearing these quite, how should I put it ‘taut’ pair of yellow patterned pants. I then got accused of wearing his, until I pointed out they were size small. Anyway, he then jumped me like the AA would fire up an old banger. Then I went to sleep.

Sunday morning, well, wasn’t really in the mood to do anything really. So stayed in bed and watched the American Celebrity Apprentice. Got up and had a very late lunch. Didn’t do the dog shit run as the garden is still covered in snow. Checked the heating magnaclense thing and it was pretty much clean, so that could be done. Ended up removing the labels off sixteen wine bottles, sterilising and then filling them. There’s still about four bottles worth in the barrel. It’s still a a bit of an acquired taste at the moment, but it’s got one hell of kick to it. I’m sure like me, it will mature with age.

I then drained down the heating and flushed it all. Got rid of all the sludge cleaner. Then refilled it and added the inhibitor. The boiler is now on max, but I’ve dropped the pump down to medium. I’m probably going to leave the lock shields for the moment and just measure the flow and return at the boiler. I’m hoping for a nice 12 degree drop, but considering the header tank was filled with very fresh outside temperature water, the return is currently -4. It needs to get that to about 87, it may take it’s time. One thing I will do though now is reset all the TRV’s back to the correct temperatures. That should then hopefully make the house temperature more balanced. Then piss around with the locks shields next week if it’s not balancing itself.

Ordered more pants.

Going to have a bath, read a magazine then have a Chinese. Back to mobile work next week hopefully after I finish off a few bits. Not a particularly productive weekend, but I blame the weather.

Today I tried to board a bus with poor people

So the weather is still a bit pants, so I made the most of it by staying in bed until lunchtime. Got up and walked the dog, it was very icy so Sasha tried to pull me over time after time.

Came back, put on something warmer then walked to Tesco’s. Picked up enough shopping for dinner this evening. Yes it’s curry again.

Had some toast. Then decided it would be good to go to HMV as they are the latest to go into administration. So I walked to Cribbs Causeway. It took just over an hour in the snow, was actually quite pleasant now there’s no real traffic down one of the main roads. Went to HMV, browsed for quite some time and then eventually purchased some CD’s.

Left HMV and thought that I couldn’t really be asrsed to walk back. So wandered down to the bus stop. I looked for the executive lounge but couldn’t seem to find one. Found the correct bus, which was already waiting there. I boarded, asked for a first class ticket and if there was a drinks service on this vehicle. The driver grunted at me and mumbled something, I then discovered he only spoke Polish. I got off the bus and walked home.

Did the accounts, ordered some more pants, I’ll go into why tomorrow. Lots of bits to get on with tomorrow, but now, bath, wine and dinner.

And then it snowed

So woke up this morning with it all white and crisp and even, and no that wasn’t because I shot my load across the sheets. The dog went out for a pee at 5AM and had a great time.

Today I was working on adding JavaScript code to do automated Facebook posts, it’s all rather overblown and complicated but in the end it all works. Hopefully wrap the rest of it up early next week then I’m back on to mobile stuff.

Took the dog for a walk lunchtime and she had a great time in the snow. Gym was closed, so went for an early evening walk instead. It’s fairly chilly, must be a good weekend to drain the heating down.

Not sure what I’m doing this weekend, all a bit weather dependent really. Got plenty to get on with even if I don’t venture out. Only place I’m going to venture to now is the bath. Do I hear a bottle of wine calling…

“Blade Runner”, best sci-fi ever? Nah, It’s a bit shit

Today working on the same stuff I’ve been working on for the last few days, but finally got on top of it, moved it to it’s own project, sorted out all the configs and got it building without having to delve into strange header files. Basically it’s still a bit dull, but now I’m on top of it I can cope. Tomorrow I have a bit more to do then have some issue to solve about automated posts to Facebook, which could be quite interesting.

Went for a run lunchtime, same distance. I’m eating quite a lot at the moment as we still have a ton of food left over from Christmas. The plan is to bulk up a bit and then strip down. Problem with that is the bulking ration is about 80/20 split between fat and muscle, mainly as I seem to be bulking up on biscuits and crisps.

Finished work at a reasonable hour in the evening. So sat down and watched the directors ninety-seventh cut of ‘Blade Runner’. Now I hadn’t seen this film in years and could only remember a few bits of it. So I watched it, start to finish, and thought…mah.. It’s very dark. Not in story content, in brightness. The whole film is in the dark and in the rain. It’s full of plot holes, discontinuities and bad dialogue. I watched ‘Moon’ last night and I thought that was a far better film.

Still almost another week over and I still don’t have any palm trees.

The Von Trapp family singers didn’t really sing all jolly Rogers & Hammerstein numbers. It was more Austrian folk music before they moved into Dub Step

So woke up far too early to take the dog to play group. Had to wait in the car for a bit for it to defrost. Anyway she got there fine and I got back into bed.

So spent the day still working on something not very interesting, to the point I was working into the evening to get all the hours in as it wasn’t really holding my attention. Still it’s getting done and all seems to be working so far.

Went for a run lunchtime and used a new ‘Run Keeper’ app, which is very good, it showed a complete GPS trace of my run. So 1:03 minutes for 7.08 miles. Considering it’s cross-country and involves quite a lot of mud then I don’t think that’s too bad.

Caught the courier today, I now have my new iPod dock, which is slightly unnecessary but still has a pretty good sound. It’s now playing out some ‘Ministry of Sound’ remix. It’s helped me get through the rest of the day for sure.

Picked up the dog. Did more work. Now I think it’s time for a sit down.

I made wine

Did work. It was so dull I’m just not going into it, but basically I added something I have no interest in into something I have no interest in. Tomorrow I’m sure will be just as dull.

Jamie’s turn with the dog, which means she’s finally being walked at 11:30PM. She still hasn’t been fed yet. She’s off to daycare tomorrow.

I went for a run lunchtime, that was fun. My iPod dock arrived when I was out, which means it didn’t arrive.

After my dull day I syphoned off my wine, into another bucket and tasted it. It tastes like wine, which is a plus. Needs to mature for a while though, gain some body. Unlike Jamie, who needs to lose some body. Sat down, watched TV, had a shower, watched more TV.

So are 7 redeem codes for every atom of a human for every human on earth going to be enough?

This morning was back on to Java stuff. Got my client / server all working nicely together now. Just trying to add extras and robustness. Did take a bit of a break this afternoon to come up with something the produces ‘redeem codes’, you know the things that you get sent and they unlock x/y/z. Trying to produce unique codes is quite interesting. I worked on using a random number generator from a given seed, that then produced a combination of numbers. I’ve now managed to produce enough redeem codes for every atom in a human body for every human on earth. Oh and they can have seven of them and they will all be unique. Somehow I don’t think we will ever run out. Then it was back on to more Java network stuff. Added CRC32 checks and message lengths and things. Also adding support for multiple message and split packets.

Walked the dog, she found a tennis ball fairly early on and kept it in her mouth for the entire walk. She brought it back with her and now is asleep on the bed with it. Tomorrow I’m sure she’ll just eat it. Went to the gym and did Body Combat, was fun, replacement instructor today, she was fairly mad. Now I think it’s time for salad.

What we need you see is a fucking great palm tree

So started off today with a man with a bad hair do. Mr Donald Trump. Missed the fact that a new celebrity apprentice had started, well not new it’s probably about five years old. Anyway, stayed in bed and watched it on iPlayer. Had disappointing sex, well if you can call it that, fap, fap, fap. Got up. Had lunch. Picked up the dog shit. Then decided as it was only about two degrees that it would be a great idea to go for a run. Plus I actually bought some new kit yesterday so I no longer had to make a thermal top last three run sessions. So I donned said lycra arrangements and ran eight miles. Came back and removed sweaty bits, left my compression tights on, much to Jamie’s hilariarity. They stop my legs turning into an eighty year old, I can run mils and still feel great, even if I do look like a WWF wrestler.

As my home brew had brewed it was time to start adding things and stirring stuff. So I did. And now positioned the giant barrel on a chest of drawers ready to syphon off when it clears. Also steamed the labels off a few bottles, that’s quite hard going actually. Still all sterilised now and ready for the juice. I think I’m going to do another white after this and then may be try a red. I’ve asked people to keep their empties as bottles is one thing I’m short of.

Bled the radiators. As the pump is running flat out, all they are doing is sucking in air at the moment. I checked and cleaned out the filter, it wasn’t bad but will give it another week.

Thinking about getting a few house plants to brightened the place up a bit. Although I’ve resisted the temptation to but a 30ft palm tree.

I think I’m pretty much done for the weekend now, time to take the lycra off.

And then the distribution point blows up

Last thing Friday night I noticed the TV signal had vanished. So Saturday morning after the usual coffee, breakfast and dog pee (don’t mix those up) it was time for some investigation. I thought it was going to be a simple bad connection somewhere, but in the end it appears that the distribution amp in the loft although the power light was on, was indeed completely fucked and no signal was coming out of it at all. TLC Direct had them in stock, but closed at 12:30, it was 12:15. So I bodged the connection up to the main TV using a couple of chocolate box connectors and some silver foil. I also added an old aerial amp downstairs to give it a bit of a boost. Then I thought ScrewFix may do one, and indeed they did. So reserved that. Walked the dog. Did the shopping. By now time was getting on, so headed over to Yate and picked up amp. Then wandered over to Cribbs, wanted to look at some iPod docks. Went to John Lewis, looked at Bose docks, look pretty, cost a fortune and to be honest don’t actually sound that great. Went to HMV where they were trying to dump stock of obviously over bought crap docks. Went to Curry’s where they had lots of docks, none of them in stock.

Went to mothers. Listened to her talk about herself for an hour. Put her Christmas tree in the loft. Came home. Fitted amp. All worked no problem. Started on the accounts. Then got a text from Jamie to be picked up, he was in town with many females doing drinking and eating things. This was nine forty-five, he’s a hell of a partier. Picked them up. Came home and finished the accounts. Bought a dock of Amazon, so much for the high street retailer. Had a bath. Then cooked for one. I made a Phal, it was very good. Meant to be quite a hot dish, but it was indeed very nice.
