VC2010, okay looks pretty but will no doubt piss me off

So today normality resumed. I continued doing a few mobile game updates then installed VC2010 on the new SSD. That actually ended up taking most of the day, windows update after windows update. Finally got it all going, my Visual Assist no longer works so may have to invest in a new license for that.

Still haven’t shagged Dillon Samuels.

My faith in the dog walking fraternity has been restored after every one I came across today was friendly and chatty.

Went to the gym, ran lots.

Watch the Monza GP, which wasn’t quite as dull as it normally is. Think I’ll have a brew then take an early night. VC2010 to do battle with tomorrow.

Kylie, Status Quo and Dillion Samuels, only one I would do

So where are we, must be Friday, well it’s actually Monday. Last thing I remember Friday was randomly throwing up. Thankfully Saturday that had passed. So did the shopping far too early. Then we all went down to Parkway station. First problem was the car park pay meter, required about a 30 minute call from Lisa to pay the bloody parking, which was finally settled somewhere just outside Swindon.

Arrived at Paddington, walked to hotel. It looked nice from the outside, but was somewhat anti-tardis like. It was shit small on the inside, so much to the point you had to back into the bog and then your knees would rub against the door.

We ventured out to the pub, drank lots, then drank some more, followed by some more drinking. We then had something to eat, with a drink. Then just before we left we squeezed another one in. This meant that I had to take a piss up a tree in Hyde Park, then had to do a runner from the security queue to go piss again. Thankfully after we finally got in we parked ourselves right by a block of toilets. I then only proceeded to use them twice in six hours. My bladder works in mysterious ways. Basically what we did then was drink an awful lot of wine, about 6 litres of the stuff. We listened to various bands and people, Il Devo, Kylie, Alfie Boe. All were very good, but after an intimate evening in Orlando where we were so close we were almost licking her snatch she was a bit of a disappointment. It tied up with the tele at the end, so we all did Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory. We then all went and ate at a fairly dodgy stake house.

Proms in the Park

Day two was very much like day one, except the amount of drinking was somewhat reduced. Jamie and I went to the Olympic park, not that we could go in it, but did get a lovely view from John Lewis. We then all met up at the same pub. I’d learnt my lesson from yesterday and only had the one pint before queuing. This time it was ‘Party In the Park’. It started with Mick Huknall, who to be quite honest I find a bit of a cock. But it did somewhat improve after that. There were a few filler acts, but mainly good stuff, ‘The average white band’, ‘Status Quo’ and the headliner ‘Tom Jones’. I ended up going to the loo more than yesterday, but I did sneak in a litre of wine, which I demolished. On exiting, we tried to eat, which considering it was London was quite a pain in the ass. We ended up getting a pizza and eating it in our room.

Party in the park

Today, I was very grumpy, mainly as I’d been kept up to almost 6AM by fucking cocks making a racket outside. I hope they all die. Got back on train, came home, started work. Did mobile stuff. Picked up dog, she seemed quite happy to see me considering it was only for the weekend. Did work. Went to gym. Did work. Fitted new SSD drive, used Acronis to do the whole backup / restore thing. All worked nicely. Did work. Did accounts. Worked out over the weekend I got through £180, Jamie got through about £30 and Andy probably got through about 7 grand.

Overall great weekend, thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a little bit cultured for Jamie. And then the news Dillon Samuels has broken up with Kyros. Which means he’s available. Things could be looking up.

Today I actually played my own game

Ok, so today was going to be fairly busy and all over the place. So started out going through a list of bugs / suggestions on the mobile game. After I did that, decided it was time to give it a full play through. I don’t tend to play heavily through my own games as you are always a little bit too close to them. But this one was designed by someone else and they’d created all the levels. So I started out on level one and played it all the way through to the end, without cheating and without doing any in-app purchases. And I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it. Being an old Red Alert fan some bits reminded me of the strategy in that. Ah, but whats the game…..well you’ll just have to wait, only a couple of weeks to go on that front.

Took Sasha to the kennels, traffic was horrendous. About an hour round trip. After I eventually managed to free her from the various bondage straps she completely ignored me and buggered off with the girl from the kennel. So much for loyalty. Then came back and did more playing. Missed Pump tonight as I couldn’t really justify taking another couple of hours off after just taking an hour off and only being back for a few minutes.

I went and did a home check instead for a young couple who are after a cat. They live on a really busy main road, but would be ideal for an older cat. They have a lovely garden.

So there we go, wine o’clock. No gym and tomorrow off to ‘Proms in the park’, followed by Sunday at ‘Party in the park’. A lot of things in parks basically. I’m sure it will be a fun weekend. I’m suspecting a reasonably busy week work wise next week though.

The only good thing about going to London is watching Dexter on the train

So I woke up, without a hangover. Frightened the dog by first taking her out for a walk at 11AM, followed by making my lunch. She knew something was up and quite right I buggered off for the bus at around 11:30. Bus arrived, was driven by someone who wasn’t Polish and delivered to Parkway, where the train departed on time. Managed two episodes of Dexter (It is getting really good now). Met up with a couple of work chaps getting off the train, walked to office. Then proceeded to sit there for the next three hours and not really do much. We did do a few play through’s of the mobile game though, so that was worth doing. A few tweaks here and there and it will be sorted. Got back to Paddington, bought an overpriced ticket that entitled me to stand on a train (inside the train) for half an hour, before being able to get a flip down seat in the vestibule. Still wasn’t too bad, managed another episode. And that’s really about it for the day. Trying to rip a Blu-ray to mobile, but that keeps falling over. Managed to get CUPS print server to broadcast my other printer and and set all that up. I think it’s shower time followed by salad and then it’s good old torture porn night. Tomorrow will no doubt be a busier day, need to take the dog to the kennel.

Apparently I need to wind my fucking lead in….

So day started off oddly with a bit of a hangover which is strange as I never usually get that on white. Perhaps it was the shock of the Spa Grand Prix actually being worth watching.

Anyway, worked through a couple of mobile bugs, that game finally coming to an end (well almost). Had two coffee’s in the morning rather than one, things must have been bad…they were about to get worse.

Took Sasha out after making lunch. During our trip through the nature reserve we came across a bloke and his misses, complete with pram and sprog. They had some small dog, off it’s lead, diving in and out the river. We got past them as Sasha was on full pull mode, their dog jumped out in front of Sasha and started winding her up jumping around. I was pulling Sasha away, but she wasn’t doing harm, just wanting to play. Then Mr. 6ft tall built like a shit-house calls out, “Are you fucking thick or something, wind your lead in.”, which is a bit odd when his dog was yapping at mine. Shortly followed by, “And keep him away from my kiddie or I’ll fucking floor you.”. I turned round glared and just carried on walking…..Now this in itself is quite unusual for me and I’m somewhat very hot headed and can fly off the handle in an instant. Perhaps in my formative years I would have called out, “At least my dog’s on a lead and I didn’t decided to marry it.” Or some other witty comment.

I did warn fellow walkers further down that an idiot and his clan were on their way.

Now, he can physically attack me all he wants, all I’ll end up is a few broken ribs and a bit of a headache and will enjoy prosecuting him for a few months. But if he ever attacks my dog, then his worst possible nightmare will come true and that’s an absolute guaranteed promise.

It’s good to see the world is full of nice people still.

Now, I think I’ll hit that wine again (I’ve been a good boy and been to the gym). May be going to London tomorrow, not really in the mood, but does give me a chance to catch up on some telly on the train.

99 tracks and the bitch is one

Spent today back on the mobile game. Tweaking AI, audio and some other bits. Then various people decided to annoy me with questions on PS3 setup and linker settings. I felt like that guy in the Simpson’s on customer services – “I know nothing about Turkey, either the bird or the country”, now fuck off. Even setting my MSN status to “I’m busy, go away”, had little effect. May be I just stress too much.

Anyway, got it all done. Took the award winning dog for a walk (she really must drop that title) then went to the gym. Did a home check on the way back, they already have a very cute dog, so that’s a straightforward one.

Updated the thetorturepornmovieblog with my Saw 2 review. I don’t really do full synopsis, I’d rather people just read my rough outline and then go watch it. If I did the entire plot then whats the bloody point in watching the film.

Got to the root of the DVD ripping problem. If you open the DVD in media player and start the episode, look at the exact time of it. It will only match one track on the entire DVD, so that will be the one for the episode. Also found that I had to trim the last 5 seconds off each episode or the encoder would lock up. But after all that everything seems to work.

Got the office to order me a new SSD as this one is so chockka and I need to install VC2010 and that’s another vast amount of crap. The old one has a huge amount of bad blocks on it now anyway, so I may retire it over to this server as it’s backed up every night anyway and will save me a bit of power. I also plan on going back to the compact flash for the pfSense box, but will probably do that after they have launched the next stable update.

Now I’m not really in the mood for the Belgian GP, I fancy a film. So may settle down to something, I’m supposed to be in London Thursday anyway, so that will bugger up torture porn night.

And now it’s a DVD’s turn to piss me off

So spent the day working on AI on the mobile game. Can’t say what the mobile game actually is, but it’s looking nice anyway.

Took the award winning dog out, then went to the gym. Ended up doing a house check for a cat (homing a cat, the cat wasn’t the owner) which was bloody miles away. So came back and did more mobile work.

Then thought I’d look into ripping a couple of episodes of a TV series on to my mobile. I own the DVD, I just want to shift formats. But the DVD contains about 99 chapters all with different lengths. Apparently this is some kind of copy protection system designed to piss me off, it succeeded.

Said bollocks to it and ate salad. I may even eat fruit cake.

Sasha wins best in show

Well the day started with breakfast, letting the dog out for a piss, then me powering up and having a coffee. So nothing unusual there. But today was a bit special as we were taking Sasha to the Holly Hedge fun day at Ashton Court. I made sandwiches, cheese for me, ham for Jamie (too much detail may be). Jamie has yet another cold, so gave him lots of pills. We ventured out and attached dog to seat belt restraints, she’s actually very good travelling in the car.

I must admit, I’m very proud of her. Ger behavior was impeccable, she only attempted to knock a couple of people out. We entered prettiest female and came nowhere. We also entered waggiest tail and came fourth. We then entered best rescue and won it! We were then entered for best in show and won that as well, which I was totally amazed by. Sasha was unfazed by the whole thing. We had a really nice day and it was good to support the charity.

Came back and tidied up the office. Moved the server and the pfSense box into the network cabinet after hoovering it out. Shoved a load of boxes into the loft. Set up the ‘Sam Knows’ box. That’s all pretty much sorted now. Did the firewall rules for the outgoing mail server. I think everything is now pretty much complete. Just converting some videos for my phone for the holidays. Drank too much wine already, bath must be beckoning.

Saturday morning…dream time

I do enjoy Saturdays, it’s where I can get up slightly later than the lateness I get up during the week anyway. I think it’s still residual Prozac (now down to one tab every four days), but I do get wonderful dreams. Usually quite surreal and disturbing, but always fun. I do get a strange recurrent one, where I believe that I sold my house and end up living at my mothers. It then takes me a couple of hours to convince myself that this nightmare hasn’t actually happened.

Anyway, after dream session I found myself being way behind time wise as I had a lot to do. Needed to visit my sister and pick up a Freeview box for mother. So decided to take the dog out and walk there to save time, then ended up chatting for too long so put me back even further. Came back and had lunch, decided to do the shopping later or I’d never get out.

So then ventured into town where I needed to pick up a couple of waterproof Kagols for next weeks trip out (and possibly for tomorrow). That was achieved, so then off to mothers, where I had fun mainly one sided conversation about how she couldn’t afford to keep her car on the road. If she bought less crap from QVC that would probably do it.

Met up with Jamie and did the shopping. Came home and did the accounts, bathed the dog (she needs to look pretty for tomorrow) and now finally settled down. I think I’m going to have a quick bath now to make up for the lack of one yesterday. Already on the wine.

Tomorrow we are having a picnic out with Sasha for the Hollyhedge fun day. I’m sure that will descend into some kind of chaos. I really must then move the server into cabinet and tidy up this room, it’s a hell of a state. Oh, and probably have another bath.
