Started this morning grumpy. Which was odd as very few people were around to annoy me. Traced a rather fun bug to do with sub-classing templates, not a great idea, as I found out. Anyway, sorted that out. Last lot of shopping arrived. Weather was nice so took Sasha for a long walk. Came back and then did another platform version of the compiler. Walked to the gym, did the last Pump class of the year, walked home and did a little more work. Did the accounts. Watched the making of the sound of music live thing, and it really was very much live. Much respect for the technical team, doing online editing with seventeen cameras without fucking it up takes some seriously large testicles. Ate salad. So tomorrow is the last work day of the year, got something quite fun to work on I guess. Then it’s Christmas. It’ll be my 43rd, never liked Christmas really, it interrupts the working week.
Sound of music live
Started fairly on time after I emptied the dishwasher. It was quite a pleasant quiet day really. I pretty much just sat there and got on with it, actually made very good progress. There’s still a lot of questions to be answered, but it’s well on its way now. Walked Sasha in the drizzle and that was as much venturing out as I did today. Transferred the white as it was just above 1010 yesterday, so should have been bang on today. Finally positioned the last speaker and wired in the PS4. Set that up with a new kareoake game, all working. Then started wrapping the presents. All of which apart from two are Jamie’s. While I was wrapping I watched ‘Sound of Music live’, although I debate what bit of it was actually live. It seemed to have an absolute shitload of offline editing. I remember ‘Crossroads’ used to have no offline editing, that was always funny. This was either done to perfection or was edited about four months ago. Anyway, all wrapping now finished. Last lot of shopping being delivered tomorrow.
So Christmas is apparently coming
Started work later than planned. Usual Monday problems. Got stuck into it in the end though. Jamie may be working odd hours at the moment, but coming home, creating a bloody great fry up and then sleeping for thirteen hours leaving the kitchen in a hell of a state isn’t acceptable. I’ve just left it and piled on more mess. Walked to gym, did Combat, last one for a couple of weeks. Walked home and did a bit more work, actually a lot more work. Tested the white, it will be ready to transfer tomorrow. Put a load of F-connectors on RG6. The excitement, so I now have Freesat again. I thought there was Channel 5HD, there isn’t must of imagined it. Anyway it’s all setup now, including a satellite feed to the TV. That’s pretty much everything complete now, just need to set the speaker positions back up. And oh yes, need to wrap the presents, think I’ll wait for the kitchen to be tidy first.
As the paint brushes finally get moved back into the garage
So Saturday started off fairly slowly, I wasn’t in any hurry and the weather was bloody miserable. Put one coat of paint on the door, walked the dog and then headed out. Had a couple of pick-ups to do and then ventured into town. Bought one birthday card and failed completely on all other purchases. Came back and did the accounts. Then headed out to the pub for a friends 50th birthday. Somehow I ended up there until about 1AM, good night anyway.
Woke up this morning at 7AM, relaxed a bit and read a book, then fed the hordes. Started the next coat of paint at 8AM, busy day planned. It mainly involved painting door and fire place. Touching up a few bits as well. Fireplace needed five coats of paint, door four. All finished now. All that’s left is a bit of wiring and a serious amount of cleaning. Quite happy how it’s all turned out though. Had a bath. Now I’m going to sit down and eat and watch the final of the Apprentice. I was going to wrap the Christmas presents, but I have a feeling that’s not going to happen.
Why does everyone suddenly want to do Karaoke?
Once again I wasn’t really in to it. Ended up procrastinating to infinity and not getting a huge amount done. Still slightly under the weather which really doesn’t help. Thankfully now though near enough everyone is taking next week of, which means I get no interruptions and I can get some decent work done for four days. Walked the dog. Walked to the gym, did Pump, did a session with Laverne, walked home, did a little bit more work. Tidied the kitchen and did the washing. Jamie has informed me that Karaoke seems popular for new year and now I need to find a shit load of new songs for it. So it’s off to ‘Game’ tomorrow and see if I can buy up all the PS3 versions of ‘Sing star’.
Spam attack
Once again I wasn’t in the mood. Cold still lingering. It’s not like it’s crippling or anything, it’s just hanging around. I keep having to ‘de-snot’ all the time. Plus it’s giving me something of a headache. I had to stop early evening as my head was just pounding. Walked Sasha just before the heavens opened. Went for a fairly long run this evening. The police were running a drink-drive roadblock just outside Tesco’s. Every time I’ve been stopped it’s either been on the way back from the gym or back from B&Q. That was a funny one. “Have you been to a pub sir?”. As I was sat there literally covered in head to toe in paint. I fully support it, as soon as they’ve had a whiff of your breath they want you to get out of there so they can move on to the next one. Put up the new hi-fi rack. It’s almost all finished now. Just waiting for my crimping tool to arrive and still have a couple of coats of paint to do.
Sarah, let me know what thingy and thingy want for Crimbo, get it in soon as apparently it’s next week.
I’ve disabled blog comments for the moment as my normal spam filter isn’t working, I had over four hundred comments in three minutes.
Conspiracy rife
Today started rather bizarrely. It’s a great shame I can’t go in to detail. But to paraphrase, I had introduced a ‘feature’ that was available on both consoles. Today the patch was release on the ‘other’ console and this ‘feature’ didn’t work. Large amounts of emails flowed. And no change was done by me. Yet by midday, this ‘feature’ magically started working. Strange that.
Weather wasn’t too bad, walked Sasha and walked to the gym. Did Pump. Walked home and did a bit more work. Still blocked up with a bit of a headache. Ran the extra HDMI cable through the trunking. Just waiting on my f-connector crimping tool and also need a couple of very short HDMI cables, then it’s all finished that side. Still have the door and the fireplace to paint. One weekend left, and I’m not planning on spending all that indoors.
Another white on the go then
Started late as I was not in the mood, this cold is lingering longer than I’d like. I’m not getting any runny nose issues it’s just mainly blockage which is annoying. Cracked on though and got everything I’ve been working on finally checked in. Now working on a new compiler which is quite fun, for the moment. Rained all day. To the point where this evening I went out for a run. Started another white, I’ll put the yeast in tomorrow after it warms up a bit. Think I’ll have an early night tonight, time to pop some pills.
Twenty-seven bottles and some change, I’m drinking the change
It’s Monday, as Sir Bob says, well I’m sticking with him. Cracked on anyway. To be honest I got quite a lot all sorted, so pretty pleased. Bit of a verify and tidy up operation tomorrow, then I get to work on something new for a while which will be fun. Walked Sasha, weather looked iffy all day, but I never got rained on. Drove to the gym as a downpour was due, again, no rain. Did Combat, very quiet, there was about six of us. Did some more work, then bottled the Voigner, twenty-seven bottles and some change, I’m drinking that now. It’s very good, but could do with maturing for a few weeks. The red is now bubbling nicely, about a week late. I have a Riesling to start tomorrow, need to order a couple more kits in while it’s brewing weather.
Almost but not quite
So started with sex, bit of a weird entry, but all good in the end, if somewhat quick. Had breakfast. Then put a second coat on the door frame. Finally got round to routing the rest of the cabling, apart from a dog that pretty much consumed the bulk of the day. Now it’s all together and all working. Except for a couple of mistakes, I’ve run one more RG6 than I needed to, and I’m missing an HDMI cable really. So I’ve ordered a shed load of HDMI cables and I’ll have another attempt at sorting it all out during the week. But it does indeed look very tidy. So just the door and the back of the fireplace left to paint. It will be finished by the end of next weekend, so basically on schedule. Sterilised thirty bottles ready for the next lot of white. I’ll probably bottle that tomorrow. Had a cold bath. Now I’m going to make a curry and watch the x-factor final.
