Silent wiping and the Kim & Co. gimp suit

This morning started at almost normal time, well normal for me. It was milestone build day, so I was sat in a chat room with about fifteen people all panicking. I got my build uploaded and working with a whole six minutes to spare, I really don’t know what all the stress is about.

Jamie went out with Tyrion to eat, I’m sure he played with his broad sword.

After about five years of having my car with really annoyingly loud wiper blades I bought some new ones off Amazon. After about twenty minutes I worked out how to fit them. I then spent ten minutes inside the car listening to the silence as they swished by.

I had a bath, a glass a wine and classic FM. I was listening to Rachmaninoff’s piano concerto No.2 (The one in brief encounter, see I can be quite cultured when I’ not being an ass). I was thinking that may be fifty would be a good time to call it quits. I mean, that gives me eight years and a few odds to complete everything I want to do and to visit everywhere I want to go. For instance I’ve never woken up and thought “Fuck, I really need to go to Norway” or “The one thing I really must do is go hang-gliding over the Himalayas”. I think eight years may be enough. I may even get a couple more rooms decorated. I don’t want to get to a pensionable age and suddenly realise I don’t actually have a pension. I don’t want to sit there and wonder if I can afford a box of Ritz crackers. I don’t want the only highlight of my week to be the postman arriving delivering a Kim & Co. gimp suit from QVC. I don’t want to sit and drown in my own bile.

It would make an interesting YouTube video. Don’t think it could be done though, how could you video dying and then upload it? It would require some dodgy scripting and you just know that will fuck up. How about twitter? That would be cool. But you just know at the ultimate moment, some cunt in a lorry will drive over a man hole cover, the phone lines will jump and your connection will drop, fifty years will be completely pointless because you couldn’t tweet ‘That’s all folks’ at the exact second.

May be I’m just in one of those moods. But don’t worry I won’t shuffle off the mortal coil without righting a few wrongs along the way. There are a few people I need to take out first, you know who you are, and I’m coming to get you.

I was thinking of doing a new YouTube video, which will consist of me, a rolling camera on mains power and a memory card that can hold about three hours. I’ll then just sit there and consume two bottles of wine. It may be an Oscar wining performance or totally shit, but either way, it could be very revealing.

Still got a bit of a cold, hopefully in the recovery phase now, want to get back to the gym and normality.

Ill, tired, ill, tired, tired ill

Yesterday I woke up and felt like complete shit. I didn’t get up at all. I think I had breakfast at about midday. Work was right out. I ended up staying in bed all day and just reading a book. If I moved from the bed I felt awful. I did get up in the evening and have a shower, watched a bit of telly.

This morning I still wasn’t great, so didn’t get up until about 3. Did some work in the afternoon and evening. Slowly beginning to feel more normal now. It’s now almost midnight, just eaten. I’ll relax a bit then go to bed. It’s daycare day tomorrow, but the cars out of petrol and I doubt I’ll be much in the mood, so Dillon will have to stay in. Need to do milestone builds tomorrow which aren’t the most exciting, but will require little interaction.

I’m reading an odd book at the moment, ‘The Wasp Factory’, can’t remember who it’s by, but it’s strange. About a boy who had his genitals bitten off by a dog. Just over halfway through.

Anyway, time for self promotion, follow me on twitter @mannmansion and don’t forget the new YouTube channel mannmansion.

Continuity Errors

So today started mainly in bed and continued there for quite some time. I’ve got a bit of a cold, so wasn’t too bothered about getting up. Got up half way through Elaine Paige. Started on the carpet tiles. Realised that I didn’t have enough of them so had to pop to B&Q again. Came back and laid them all. I’m sure the bloody dog will dig them up again.

Retired to my lair and finished editing my third YouTube video. Yes, I actually edited it. It was good fun, not sure I’ll do any more soon but I enjoyed it and it made a nice change. Jamie I’m sure hates it’s and would like to crawl into a small hole and die, so I guess there are some advantages. Anyway, check out my masterpiece here.

I’m going to have a bath, followed by chicken. Probably wine. No, definitely wine.

“You’re going to land on a tiny island in the middle of a lake”, okay….

This morning started off in a bit of a coughing fit. I was 50/50 about weather to cancel this mornings lesson. I was feeling fine, but just coughing everywhere. I had breakfast and coffee, then cleaned up lots of dog shit, then decided to go for it. Easy drive up to Staverton. God, it was busy. Everyone who owned a plane or could get hold of one was up today. It was a really gorgeous day, very low wind with massive visibility. We took off to the south to avoid the queue on the airfield and circled around the edge of Cheltenham. We then went up above cloud layer and looked down which was fantastic. Then we did a couple of auto-rotations from 3,000 feet. Then James said that I was going to do a normal approach, but to give me a bit of a target I had to hit a tiny island, which wasn’t much wider than the helicopter in the middle of a lake. It was great fun, managed the landing no problem, got James to take the controls and took a quick photo:

Took off again and back to the airfield. Spent the rest of the lesson doing circuits, which I’m now getting down to a fine art. Was all great fun and I think I only coughed about twice.

Came back home, walked the dogs and then it was into Stephen Spielberg mode. I set up the video camera, printed out my script and then spent the next three hours filming footage. Won’t say too much about it at the moment, but it involved changing a hell of a lot of t-shirts, a power drill and a Pikachu onesie. Got a load of editing to do on it next, but I think it’s going to be quite fun.

Jamie came home from his Sonic bumming session in Weston and we popped into Tesco’s and then to B&Q to pick up some carpet tiles for the hall. Did the accounts, all the filing. Think I’ll have a quick bath before making myself a killer curry.

Pump, baby, pump

Today was mainly spent coughing for some reason. It was rather annoying. The shopping arrived which was less annoying. Lots of protein powder. Worked on constant buffer usage. Also did my video script.

Went to the gym and did pump. Then afterwards had a session with Laverne. We did lots of weights on a bench. A weights class followed by weights while coughing. Fun fun.

Did a home check for a kitten. Did more work.

Now going to have a bath, drink wine and probably cough. Flying and filming tomorrow, if I don’t turn into a diseased wreck.

I’m officially depressed and have anxiety issues until the end of July

Spent the bulk of the morning trying to ftp data to a server. I lost count of how many retries it took. Then spent the rest of the day working on optimising constant buffers, which again is as thrilling as it sounds. Actually it was rather frustrating. Walked the dogs.

Then it was time to go to the doctors for my ‘medication review’. Twenty minutes late (him not me) we then spent ten minutes discussing how to land a helicopter with no engine. Then I got a repeat prescription for my own bodyweight in Prozac until the end of July. He then said when I come back he probably won’t be there. To which I instantly said, “Well that’s a shame, but we all have to die sometime.”. He then explained that he wasn’t planning on shuffling off the mortal coil, but was in fact retiring.

Went to Spin. That was fun. Came back and stressed over constant buffers again. Finally sat down. Still degassing wine. Still haven’t done my storyboard for my video and I want to shoot it on Saturday. Which I’m supposed to be flying on as well. Also need to get carpet tiles. May postpone that one for a week.

Premonition or dream?

I woke up at 6:30 to take Sasha to daycare. The news was on the radio. There was a helicopter crash, a military one on night operations, all four crew killed. I came downstairs and the dining room was covered in poo. I think actually it was Sasha as Dillon is somewhat more accurate. I called Jamie down to clean it up. I gave Sasha her breakfast but she only ate a small amount. She seemed fine anyway. Took her to daycare, no problem. Came back and washed the floor. Went back to bed.

Then I had a weird dream…..I was flying with James and we were doing an autorotation from 3,000ft. For some reason we were carrying a giant pallet on the end of a winch rope. All was going to plan until I spotted a load of pylons, then I panic’d. James took over and we flew under one, then there was a big bang and the helicopter landed in a heap. We both got out alive. But I remember looking back round and seeing the large pallet dangling from the pylon. I’m flying Saturday, I’ll look out for pylons.

The cleaners arrived early. I started work. Was more preparing data and updating tools. I didn’t get to any interesting stuff until this evening.

Jamie was at the dentist, he came home a couple of hours later with GoT’s boy and a new phone. They were both wearing matching trackie bottoms and looking fat. Breakfast at Nando’s no doubt.

Went to Pump. We did the new one, it was fun, but painful. Came back and did more work. Had salad.

Bitches, it’s a spin class, shut the fuck up

This morning was mainly concerned with the joy of building demo data and debugging builds. It was dull but necessary. Had lunch, drank coffee. Read a book on iMovie during the dull bits. I now know how to edit stuff, this could be useful.

So the day was going fine. Got changed and went to the gym. It was spin. Paul wasn’t there, it was some lady. Anyway, there was only a couple of bikes left so I sat towards the back. Next to two ‘ladies’. During the warm up they were chatting. Then the class started, the hill climb, and they continued to chat. The music was fairly quiet, the instructor was doing her hardest to shout over it. These two woman continued to talk through the whole bloody thing.

“Craig, started at big school and someone took his lunch box.”

“Really, didn’t the teachers do anything about it?”

“Add more resistance, give it everything you got, push and pull now, pull your stomach in”

“No, he didn’t say anything to the teacher, but he came home crying”

Hopefully the kid will come home tomorrow, have a massive existential crisis because his mother talks too fucking much and wrap her massive boob tube round her fucking throat. Then may be we can all do the hill climb in peace.

Someone finally took the bloody radiator

So this morning was thankfully back to a full week. Started reasonably on time. Today was trying to upgrade an SDK, which actually went okay. The problems came later when on multiple levels I was getting an annoying black screen. Something’s cocked somewhere, ran out of time today, so one for tomorrow.

Took the dogs for a walk in the rain. Someone had finally taken the radiator outside. Note to self, if you want someone to steel something, don’t make it bloody obvious and write ‘scrap’ on it. There was more chance of it walking if I’d locked it in a bank vault. Anyway, gone now. Wonder how long the next one will take.

The dogs have finally destroyed the hall carpet, so that will need replacing. Out with the carpet tiles again I think.

Jamie has gone to Nando’s with ‘Game of Thrones’ boy. We had Nando’s chicken last night. It’s also taken him about two and a half hours. I’ll check later if he put his nice pants on. He’s come back in a good mood, very suspicious.

Booked my class two medical for next week. I think I have a good idea for a vlog. I’m sure everyone will hate it.

Happy 80th

So yesterday we somewhat meandered for a bit before having breakfast. It was then a quick trip to Tesco’s to pick up a couple of bits and the sorting office. Came back and packed up, then took the dogs to the kennels. Swung back and picked up our stuff and then we headed down to Bournemouth. It was a horrible drive, it was pissing down and the roads were flooded. Took about three hours in the end. Got there just in time for a shower before descending downstairs to the bar. It was Jamie’s granddads 80th birthday party. Met lots of family I haven’t met before as well as caught up with a lot of others. We see each other very rarely. Meal was fine, I set next to a couple of teachers who were lovely. We did have one odd chap on our table, I couldn’t decided if he was nice or just a bit of a dick. I stuck the beer, I was fine, ordered room service.

Next morning we got up for breakfast no problem. It was then lots of hanging around while various photographs were taken. Eventually managed to leave just gone eleven with another three hour journey. Picked up the dogs, had some lunch and then took down all the Christmas stuff. Cleaned the couch, which considering it has two dogs clambering all over it, it’s in perfect condition. Put the new gyro in the CX2, works beautifully, had it hovering in the kitchen no problem at all, need to take it outside for a good play. I tried one of the same gyro’s in the CP2 but it wouldn’t initialise so I’ve gone back to the stock 3-in-1 so will try that with the new transmitter setup. I’ve had it taking off okay, so again, need to play with that outside.

Right, just put everything in the loft now, then bath and food time. The first normal week starts tomorrow. Back to combat as well, looking forward to that.
