A gob like Rylan

Finally got round to checking everything in, did the last round just before I knocked off, so probably broke lots. Another nice and fairly warm day (for March). Sasha got a nice long walk, Dillon just got fisted. My teeth whitening stuff arrived, I’ve gone for a slightly stronger mix so I should end up with teeth like Rylan Clark after a few weeks. Went out for a run, had shower, now tired. Time for a film tonight me thinks.

Sometimes you wonder how the hell something worked and then realise it actually didn’t

Started off well, trying to isolate old D3D11X code which is now depreciated. Rewrote a load of stuff to do with texture loading, it’s all tidy now. Went back to the console and found a load of stuff which just didn’t work and never has, so ended up re-writing all of that as well. Then got sidetracked by a bug on the original game where we actually had a GPU crash dump for. Walked Sasha. Walked to the gym, did Pump. Good to see the gym is back to normal and completely empty. Weather not looking too wonderful this weekend, so may be a bit of Geocaching and lots of video editing to do.

I’d like to die in my sleep, my passengers may not appreciate it though

Started vaguely on time. First job was to split a load of code up between two platforms, it’s almost readable now. Next job was to do an upgrade to DX11.1 and still retain compatibility with Windows 7, that was more of a challenge, getting there though. New iMac arrived, that can sit in the box until the weekend I expect, no time at the moment. Walked Sasha. Did a home check for two cats. Went for an eight mile run.

So every night I have to fist the dog

It’s Monday, I still really can’t get the hang of Mondays. Work was going nowhere so rang the vet, got Dillon in in an hour. Boss tried to talk to me, nothing was really getting through. Took Dillon to vet, they are not going to operate but I have to poke his bum with cream for the rest of his life, good job I’ve got a bulk load of rubber gloves. Another lovely day, so Sasha got a nice walk as well. Walked to gym, did Combat, Laverne’s stalker was there, god is she useless. Came back and found the bug I’d been hunting for six hours, cured a number of problems. Fisted Dillon, ate salad.

So I took up my first passenger and everyone survived

Okay, so I didn’t have the best nights sleep, probably because I was feeling knackered and went to bed at about 10:30PM. This morning though I got the wind spot chart and the forecast and plotted the route. Walked Sasha, got some petrol and picked up Sarah. Drove to Staverton. Office was empty so ended up giving the flight briefing outside the cafe. Tech log signed we headed to the apron, I gave the safety briefing and warmed up the crate. Full credit to Sarah, she was certainly less nervous and apprehensive than I was. I’d done the pick-up and take-off a hundred times before, but this one was somewhat special. No longer was the passenger a dumbbell or an instructor, this was a sibling who’d passed through the same vagina as me. After that terrifying feet I guess this was nothing special. I’m very impressed that she was calm enough to actually video the entire take-off. Due to the odd weather I couldn’t carry out the flight as planned so had to wing-it a bit (no pun intended). But we flew around for an hour and looked at the sights of Tewkesbury and Stresham motorway service station. There were a lot of dust particles hanging around so made the visibility quite bad. Landed back at Staverton and did a bit of hovering. Overall a good flight. I think she enjoyed it. Most people can drive a car, very few people can fly a helicopter and even fewer have the privilege of flying their own sister in one, it was a pleasure. I know it was a bucket list item for you, but it was a big achievement for me, and for that I’m thankful. Hopefully the next flight will be somewhat more interesting.

Spring is in the air

Woke up fairly early this morning. Usual coffee and paper. Sorted wine out, now on its first clearing. Walked Sasha. Shot a video for Jamie’s channel. Had lunch and then went out on a very unsuccessful Geocaching hunt. Beautiful day though. Had a bath and ate, early bed. Tomorrow I get to fly my first non-paying passenger.

Okay, I admit, I’m addicted to Haribo

Another one of those weird days where I’m surrounded by two nuclear PC’s and the worlds slowest laptop and I’m trying to work on all three at the same time. Spent the bulk of the day trying to find some shader issue that kept giving me infinity, I just ended up shoving a clamp on it in the end as every single PC GPU debugger is pure shite. Nice day again, walked Sasha. Walked to the gym and did a session with Lavern, walked home and did a bit more work. Now pizza and beer time. Weather looking good for the weekend.

So just sat in bed and bought a new iMac

Started a bit later than planned but cracked on anyway. Sun was shining but didn’t last. Sasha had a nice walk though. Spent the bulk of the day syncing code and data on three machines and doing lots of building. Finally went out in the evening for an eight mile run. Managed to eat an entire bag of Maltesers so my carbs are far too high, will have to forgo the yogurt. Had a shower, sat in bed and finally ordered a new iMac, it’s top of the range without the memory upgrade as thats just piss taking, I’ll buy that elsewhere. All tax-deductible. Time for salad.

Cold, wet and windy

Got up late. The weather today was weird, blazing rain and gales, yet lunchtime it was just windy and tonight it was quite pleasant. Spent most of the day trying to reproduce something I couldn’t. Added a load of new stuff for an artist and then stripped a load of old stuff out. Re-written my job description and job title, I’m getting pissed off with people asking me about screen dirt and water shaders, when all I know about is DMA and constant buffers, so time to make it clear. Walked Sasha, made up for yesterday. Walked to gym, did Pump, but was very tired. Did a bit more work, watched some telly, now about to have a snack and go to bed.

Apparently my body will work for another two years

Bit of a day of two halves and a never ending evening. Work once again started with debugging something for an artist and then suddenly descended into a seven hour bug hunt for something that has been randomly crashing for about six years. I finally worked out what it was just before I had to leave for Staverton. Drove up there, there was an accident on the way delayed me by about ten minutes but still got there on time. My medical lasted about eighteen minutes and cost seventy quid plus VAT. I’m apparently fine for another two years. All paperwork signed and sorted, I popped a copy into James, met Quentin again, he’d just tested another PPL. Drove back, did another few hours of work. Went out for a run and then ate a brief salad. Then got stuck on the motorway to pick up Jamie and his mum, had horrendous hammering rain all the way to Weston and then on the way back had to do a twenty mile diversion due to the slip road being closed, in the end the journey was just shy of three hours. Finally sat down at almost 1AM and had the first cup of tea since about 4PM. Hoping for a less hectic day tomorrow.
