So started my last day with an interview. I was doing the interviewing, not the other way round. It was fine, but these things are always a tad dull. Then synced up everything and watched it crash. Walked Sasha in the sun. Came back and did my last few hours. Still ended up knocking off almost an hour after I was supposed to. So that’s it, all logged off. This will be the longest break I’ve had off working fro twenty-seven years. I’m sure it will be awful. Did a home check for a dog. I’m a bit on the fence with this one. Am I right to judge someone’s ability to take a dog on from their circumstances? Yes. Dropped keys off at my sisters and then walked home on a very pleasant evening. Must think about packing.

So started a bit later today as I was somewhat knackered yesterday after a very long day, sex as well, first time in weeks. Finished off the SDK updated then had to do a load of memory saving stuff with shader binaries, yep, that’s as exciting as it sounds. I think the summer is here for two days, walked Sasha in just a t-shirt (I had bottoms on as well). Went out this evening and picked up a couple of Geocaches, felt quite knackered though, walked too much yesterday. Sorted out iPad Air for holiday, intro video installed and ready in FCPX. I’ve got the Hero 4, three batteries and a dual charger, plus about 1TB of flash storage. That’s all I’m taking this time. Also have a little tripod and various mounts. Got a helicopter flight booked in Miami, that’ll be a cool way to round off the holiday. Must think about packing, ah, maybe tomorrow.

So woke up at 6:15, had breakfast and coffee. Bowels kicked into action. Drove to Parkway at 7:30, on train at 8:03. In London 9:35, in office 10:15. Left office 12:30. Walked back to Paddington for 14:30. Got the 14:45. Back at Parkway for 16:15, home at 16:30. Had lunch and then took Sasha for a walk. A new Geocache came up. Walked the mile and a bit then failed to find it. Got some milk. Ate. Going to have a bit more food then head off to bed. Looks like Miami helicopter flight isn’t going to happen as then only day we have the car is memorial day.

Spent all bloody day on that SDK update again. Finally got to the bottom of it. Walked Sasha rather late due to the weather. Went out for a walk this evening and found a few new Geocaches. Updated WordPress and Ubuntu. I’m going to build a new server when back from holiday and update Linux at the same time. I looked up the motherboard in the current server and it’s marked as ‘end of life’ so that about says it all really. It’s done well with no real problems. 12.04.05 times out April 2017, 16.04LTS has just been released and that’s good until April 2021. So probably have to do a two stage upgrade to 14.04 first. I think an upgrade every four years is reasonable considering it’s on 24/7/365. Off to London tomorrow for a meeting I don’t particularly want to go to.

So started this morning as a normal Monday, it was a bank holiday but peeing down. Work was very frustrating, getting some issues with some stuff using ‘std’ and all the locales are crashing. Waiting until gone four before taking Sasha out, when finally the sun came out and it was a lovely day. Did a bit more work and then we went to the pub to eat with Jamie’s sister. As it was a school night I ended up drinking three bottles of alcohol free lager, go me.

So breakfast and coffee as normal. Attempted to pack my suitcase, put items in suitcase, may not necessarily be the correct ones. Then we headed out to Tesco’s and then into town. Bought socks. Looked at other things. Went in Superdry and spent a fortune. Do like Idris Elba’s clothing range, frighteningly expensive, I bought a teeshirt. Walked Sasha. Did the accounts, had a bath and phoned mother. Now Jamie is cooking, looks interesting. Working tomorrow as normal.

So got a text off Ben first thing apart todays flight. Had breakfast and coffee. We then walked to Tesco and I got some more USD. Had a quick lunch and then drove to Staverton. We waited a while for basically a storm to pass. We then flew to the west down to Chepstow and back up the Wye Valley to Hereford and back to Gloucester. It was actually a beautiful day with nice weather where we were, just everywhere else was shit, so we were lucky. Video to follow. Now looking into airport lounges, looks like we can get a card thing for entry to most of them.

Work was kinda dull, still working on SDK update. Got dragged int a meeting in London next week, fairly pointless me being there, but there you go. Still, I’ll have a nice shopping trip in the evening while I’m there. Walked Sasha. Cycled to gym, did Pump, session with Laverne. And that’s it now at the gym until June. Maybe my groin will heal, doubt it.

Work was somewhat better today, although I lost half a day trying to get a build to work. Started doing a console SDK update, that’ll be me occupied for the next day or so. Walked Sasha. Went out for a nice walk this evening, weather is still a bit weird, it’s going from tepid to fucking freezing. New ITX case arrived, so I popped the PSU out of it and stuck it in the old one. That’s all up and running again now. I’ll get a new PSU for the new case and build that into a new server with a new Ubuntu version. Job for when I come back from holiday. Now it’s time for the last episode of ‘The night manager’. Looking forward to this.

So started this morning after a bit of a heavy night of psychosis and screaming to be confronted by a completely dead server. No email, no printers, no web server, no fuck all. PSU had gone bang. So stripped down another PC and took out the PSU, that one had the wrong ATX connector. Found by very old proxy server and ripped the PSU converter board out of that, couldn’t find the external adapter for it (after thinking about it, I think I used it on the new one). Ended up jamming a massive external PSU into it, it’s all balanced together on strips of cardboard but magically it fired up. Ordered new case with PSU, when it arrives I’ll rip out the PSU and swap them over. I’ll then probably get another PSU and build a spare server. After all that dilemma, work got on my absolute tits, walked Sasha, came back and lasted about ten minutes, I finished at 3:30, I just had had enough, the constant moaning from everyone and the assumption that we are doing fuck all just finished me off for the day. I did poke a few odd things but just couldn’t be bothered. Cycled to the gym, did Pump with very light weights, I’ve been so pissed off today my groin has been the least of my worries. Drove to Westbury-On-Trym, picked up my click and collect that should have been there Saturday and some Flora. Now halfway through ‘The night manager’, getting well into it.
