Doggy Daycare and Cleaners all a big success

Okay, so I woke up at an ungodly hour, one which should have been the end of a good evening, not at the beginning of a good morning. Dog didn’t really know what the hell was going on, she went out for a pee then ran back upstairs to bed. She was then slightly confused when I started to pour her breakfast out. She decided to strike while the iron was hot and came downstairs and ate it. She then dutifully went and had a poo and got rather excited. She got bundled into the car in the dark and driven to “Paw Stretchers”. Where she shot out of the car got attached to a man with a lead and didn’t look back. I drove home and went back to bed.

Today work wise was mainly fixing a few bugs and doing play testing, all went according to plan really. Fixed a few things, tested lots on iPod and PC.

New cleaners arrived, one called Mandy, one called something else. They spent about five minutes unloading their van of various containers of ‘stuff’ and a couple of hoovers. They then proceeded to do cleaning type things for the next three hours, which wasn’t bad when they are only being paid for two and a quarter. They didn’t get round to the dinning room but did everything else. I must admit they actually did a really really good job, I was very impressed. Now they’ve got on top of a few things it, (hopefully) won’t take so long next time. So that’s “Welcome home cleaning”.

By the time they went it was time to pick Sasha up. So sat at Aztec West traffic lights for twenty minutes then arrived at doggy daycare. Sasha was led out by a rather cute looking guy. She had apparently spent three hours running round in a field, followed by various other activities. I was disappointed that I wasn’t given a painting that she had done to stick on the fridge. She’ll be going back next week. She’s been asleep since.

Did a bit more play testing. Due to my foot being bad, no idea, some sort of ankle twist, I gave the gym a miss and had a bath instead. Caught up with a magazine. Ate salad. Sat down. Jamie keeps asking if I’m going to plough his buttocks, well as long as he doesn’t hurt my ankle.

Going from A to B

So started fairly early, well normal time, I just didn’t read BBC news for an hour first. So back on to routing, Al was moaning about a couple other frame rate cases. So did more research on HPA (a variation on A-star) but all involved building graphs and lots or preprocessing which I didn’t really have time to do. So came up with a simple solution which would involve a bit of manual work but would give me good results and importantly not use much memory. What I did was dump out the maps to a text file. Mark walk-able squares with a 0 and non walk-able with an X. Simples. Then manually went through the text files and grouped all the closed off areas, so for instance a closed off bit at the top of the map would be allocated section 1, then the next 2 etc. I had up to 16 areas that could be grouped. All I did then was add additional routing hints. So to go from one area to another you would just do 0:3:2; meaning to go from area 0 to area 3 you needed to go via area 2. All other areas could be disregarded in the A-star search. This reduced my maximum search nodes down to about a sixth of what it was. Total memory requirements…512 bytes. Ok, so manual editing, but it’s only a couple of maps, gives great results and only took about one mug of coffee per map.

Walked the dog. Finished work vaguely on time. Did a home check and went to the gym. Ran, only thirty eight minutes, on a short week this week. Did a home check for a kitten. Sat down and ate salad. Actually watched quite a bit of TV without any distractions.

Sasha is off to doggy day care far too early tomorrow morning. New cleaners starting. Need to order stuff for new pfSense box. New server seems to be running fine. Think I’ll have some fruit cake, may be a glass of wine and an early night.

Mann verses Android

So today was back battling with VC2010 and Android. Got the asset copy working and it wasn’t too much of a job (a couple of script changes) to get the F5 run working. Decided to take another look at the GDB debugger. That has a number of interesting issues. The first being that it’s actually in two parts, you have the GDB client that runs on the host and then the GDB server which runs on the target. So first you need to copy the gdbserver bin over to your lib directory on the Android tree. Then create and deploy your package. Once it’s installed you run it. This will create a user under the package name. You then need to run the server under the same user name as the package and attach it to the running process. This needs to be done or you get into all sorts of permission problems. Then you start the client and connect to the host. Managed to get that all working but still no source level debugging yet, I may look at a graphical front end for GDB tomorrow. I also added release build configs and finally checked it all in.

Walked the dog. Jamie had one of his LBF’s (Little Blue Friends) round, it was really sweet, they were playing Sonic games and comparing toys. I was going to take them milk and cookies so they had enough energy for group fapping.

Had a quote back about the boiler. I did a gas safe trace on the bloke and came up with nothing. Had an email back to say he uses a number of contractors….that’s all a little odd, will see how that pans out.

Sent a mail to the cleaners about starting soon, no reply yet. Went to the gym, ran for seventy five minutes. Torture porn night, so still no time to write up the butt cheek incident.

Total trick or treater’s – zero. The Haribo is mine.

So still trying to convince Android to build on VC2010. Solved the link error, it was caused by link ordering issues. I tried editing all the scripts to wrap -Wl,–start-group libs -Wl–end-group but this didn’t help, so ended up including some of the libs again using additional dependencies. So now it builds and deploys to my phone. Final couple of things to sort out are the copying of assets in the build script. And then may be some GDB support, but we never had any to start with, so doubt we will miss it much. It still works fine with logcat anyway.

New motherboard arrived, so had a play with that. Got the old Proxy server case out, that has a 60W external PSU but the internal connector is a plane ATX and the board required an extra PCie 4 pin 12V connector. Also needed was a SATA power connector, so it was out with the soldering iron. Twenty minutes later the PSU had been converted and the board was powering up. So I removed the old 2.5 hard disk and replaced with the spare SSD drive. All powered up and bios set, it then amusingly tried to load Windows 7 from an i7 Intel quad core. It failed, unsurprisingly, but did try and recover its self, it failed again. But that’s hardly the point, I need to install Ubuntu on it and then restore a backup from the this server. Job for another day, but so far so good.

Had another boiler quote, this one was a bit strange, invited the guy to have a look, he just said it was a fixed quote, I don’t think I’ll bother with him. Also was given a card from a friend, did a trace on the number, it goes to no less than five plumbing company names. Another one I won’t be bothering with.

Will give the new cleaning company a call tomorrow and try and get that arranged for next week.

Lots of new t-shirts have arrived. I may take them out of the bags at some point. Walked the dog. Went to the gym and ran for seventy four minutes. Ate salad.

On the good news front I may be getting the money back I’m owed from about 18 months ago and my salary restored back to it’s existing level. I’ll believe it when it’s in the bank, but something positive anyway. On the bad news front, Jamie is still fat. Oh yes, there’s still that butt cheek incident….but out of time tonight.

And todays post is being typed using Ubuntu Desktop edition

It’s on here as it’s switched on and I can’t be arsed to fire up the main machine again.

Ok, so cleaning man came round this morning to give me a cleaning quote, walked round with a clipboard, that’s one step away from wearing a hi-viz. Ooo, firefox doesn’t seem to have a spell checker built in…ah it does, it just wasn’t set to the right language. Anyway, he came up with 2.3 hours and two cleaners (they always work in pairs, a bit like breasts). With the price they can do it once a fortnight and it better be bloody good.

Work wise, playing around with more Android stuff. Getting it set up on the Ubuntu box, there’s also a solution I’m looking into for dev studio as well.

Managed to find a reasonable Mini-ITX board that was display stock, so got it for £50. It’s dual core and apparently only needs about 20 watts. Hopefully it will fit and work in the old proxy case. I think I may have found another board also that would be good for pfSense, but one thing at a time.

Went to gym, did combat, ran for twenty seven minutes afterwards. Now I’m going to eat salad and watch the Indian Grand Prix. Man coming tomorrow to give me a quote for new boiler and doing the bathroom.

It’s Tuesday and I’m not at the gym

Ok, so woke up today feeling considerably better than I went to bed last night, so must have had some chill or something. Been fine today. Working on ID3 tags in audio files and LIST in wav files. Oh the excitement. Anyway, got it all working in the end, now need to replicate the same on iOS. Fixed up all the latest on iOS anyway, so ready to give it a blast now.

Took the dog for a walk, weather held out, it was quite a nice afternoon. Did more work. Still no cleaner, I’ve phoned round a couple now need to ‘interview’ them. Updated WordPress, updated the torture porn blog. Drinking Smirnoff Ice…what’s this. Well I’ve decided that spending five nights in the gym is now being perhaps somewhat excessive and it means I get very little time to do anything else. I’m accelerating towards death at an alarming rate, but I don’t need a six pack to enter hell. So for the time being I’ve decided not to go on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s and do something more (or less) interesting instead. May be read a book once in a while, or talk to the husband (no, may be not). Anyway this evening will be taken up by watching tele, then hopefully in the morning my legs won’t absolutely kill.

Don’t feel right today, may be it’s because I’m up to my knees in dog hair

Didn’t feel great this morning, put it down to being a Monday. But been feeling a bit heady all day, probably need some wine and some cheese. Been working on SDK updates and mobile stuff. Fairly quiet. Did make it to the gym and did combat which was fun and woke me up a bit. But now feel bad again. Think I need some shite TV and some salad.

Tomorrow I need to find a new cleaner as it’s getting silly now.

Darwin had the right idea

Today I started doing battle with iOS and XCode again, thankfully my colleague knew what the problem was so managed to produce test flight builds again, although I can’t add any new devices without cocking the whole key chain thing up, so I’ll avoid that if possible.

Then it was on to some PS3 work, well an SDK update, which basically means lots of downloading, building installers and hanging around for compiles, it’s a pretty brain dead activity, but I was having a pretty brain dead kind of day.

Met ugly fat bitch with abusive husband again while out walking dog (this time without husband, as he was probably back inside due to his asbo). By god she’s got a gob like a fog horn, this time her dog was off attacking someone else’s while her teenage daughter was stood in the middle of the path blocking it’s entirety with her hips while texting. There must be something to be said about removing these peoples benefits and then praying for a harsh winter, natural selection can then do it’s thing. Mind you there would then be certain parts of the country like ghost towns.

Cleaner hasn’t turned up in ages, I’m now up to me knees in dog hair. Jamie refuses to put anything into dishwasher or wash anything. He thinks if he just leaves stuff out it will magically be put away. It won’t. I can go all week with one cup, one knife and one t-shirt, so I’ll always win that battle.

Here’s my trip adviser review of the WOW Bodrum Resort

Went to gym, ran, unexciting. Played with dog. Now it’s time for salad and the Singapore GP (Yes, I’m still getting through it). Then I must carry on with that rather gruesome film I was watching in bed, and I don’t mean Jamie sleeping.
